Why We Built MyLessonStudio — A Lesson Planning Tool Built for How Teachers Really Plan

~Launa Gauthier

Lesson planning is one of the most intellectually demanding parts of teaching — and one of the most time-intensive.

In conversations with educators across classrooms and contexts, a clear pattern emerged: teachers know how to plan great learning. What they often lack is the time and space to do it well. That insight stayed with us.

MyLessonStudio was built in response to that reality.

Lesson Planning Is Professional Work — Not Busywork

Lesson planning sits at the heart of teaching. It’s creative, complex, and deeply professional work. It’s where teachers interpret curriculum, anticipate student needs, design meaningful learning experiences, and make hundreds of thoughtful decisions that never show up on a template.

And yet, too often, planning gets pushed into evenings, weekends, or whatever time remains after everything else.

Teachers aren’t short on expertise. They’re short on hours.

Why We Built MyLessonStudio

We didn’t set out to build another tool in an already crowded EdTech space.

We built MyLessonStudio because we believed teachers deserved something better — a planning platform that respects their time, honours their professional judgment, and supports high-quality planning without adding to their workload.

MyLessonStudio was designed to make lesson planning clearer, faster, and more sustainable — without taking away what makes teaching human and creative.

How MyLessonStudio Supports Teachers

MyLessonStudio helps teachers:

  • Plan smarter and faster
  • Connect lessons directly to curriculum
  • Personalize learning without extra workload
  • Spark creativity with assessments and learning ideas
  • Spend more time teaching — and less time managing paperwork

It’s not about automating teaching. It’s about supporting teachers’ thinking.

Our Commitment to Educators

At JLN Education, our mission is simple: to support educators with tools that help them do their best work — without burning out.

We believe great teaching deserves great support.

We’re excited to bring MyLessonStudio to the K–12 community and to continue building alongside the educators who inspire this work every day.
